Can you believe it? Wedding planning in 2025 comes with a lot of joy, a lot of decisions, and yes, a lot of numbers. According to The Knot’s 2025 data, the average hometown wedding is about $32,000, while an international destination wedding averages around $41,000.
Those numbers can feel big, especially for families sitting around the kitchen table trying to make thoughtful choices. But here in Hannibal and across the Tri-State area, I always think the heart of a wedding is not the price tag. It is the people who show up, the hugs, the old friends, the grandparents on the dance floor, and the memories everyone carries home.

Remember What Matters Most
Where has the time gone when a wedding felt as simple as cake, punch, family, and a few folding chairs? While times have changed, the meaning has not. Whether you are celebrating in Hannibal, Quincy, Palmyra, Monroe City, Louisiana, Bowling Green, Canton, Pittsfield, or another sweet Midwest town, your wedding day is really about love and the people gathered around you.
Budgets matter, of course. Families work hard, and every decision deserves care. But at the end of the day, the moments people remember most are often the simple ones: a proud father’s smile, a mother wiping away tears, little cousins twirling on the dance floor, and friends staying late because they do not want the night to end.
However big or small the celebration may be, I hope every couple feels surrounded, supported, and deeply loved. That is what makes a wedding beautiful here in our Mississippi River region.
