Pinterest has released its 2026 Wedding Trends Report, and can you believe how much wedding style keeps changing? After looking at more than 7 billion wedding-related searches and 16.7 billion saved ideas, Pinterest found something many of us have already been feeling: couples want celebrations that feel personal, heartfelt, and true to who they are.

Here in Hannibal and across the Tri-State area, that feels right to me. Whether it is a wedding, anniversary, reunion, or shower, people are wanting more than a pretty day. They want memories that feel like them.

Wedding Stories Are Starting Before the Aisle

One of the sweetest trends is called Before I Do. Couples are choosing engagement photos that feel natural and familiar, like coffee dates, picnics, dinner outings, and everyday places that mean something. Searches for indoor picnic date romantic are up 305%, and dinner date photo ideas are up 385%.

It feels like just yesterday that engagement pictures were mostly posed portraits. Now, couples want the little in-between moments remembered too.

Colors Are Getting Rich, Dreamy, and Personal

For 2026, Pinterest is seeing two big color directions. Some couples are loving deep, nature-inspired shades like plum, fig, merlot, and dusty olive. Searches for plum and olive wedding are up 1,380%. Others are leaning into soft, glowing colors with opalite, chrome, midnight teal, and dreamy pastels. Opalite aesthetic searches are up 2,710%.

Celebrations Are Becoming Full Experiences

Couples are also drawn to spaces and details with atmosphere. Pinterest reports big increases in searches for jazz club weddings, speakeasy lounges, and glass greenhouse weddings. The real message is not that every wedding has to follow one look. It is that couples want the setting, music, lighting, and details to help tell their story.

Decor is becoming more touchable and meaningful too, with draped fabric, stained glass, lace, velvet, flower bars, perfume stations, and even vegetable centerpieces. Wedding cakes are having fun as well, with tiramisu cakes, flower pot cakes, polka dots, oil pastel finishes, and kitsch cake ideas all gaining attention.

Guests Are Being Invited Into the Memory

I especially love the return of simple, offline activities. Written songs, button pictures, matchbox favors, and wedding coloring books are all trending. In a busy world where everyone is often looking at a screen, there is something special about giving guests a way to participate, laugh, and take home a keepsake.

Style Is Becoming More Individual

Bouquets are changing too, with beaded flowers, bouquet purses, fuzzy wire designs, note bouquets, and even no-flower bouquets on the rise. Bridal looks are becoming bolder, with celestial whimsigoth inspiration, red veils, black gothic dresses, lace gloves, body chains, chunky bangles, fascinators, Juliet caps, pearl headdresses, and forehead tiaras. Grooms are adding personality too, with silver jewelry, pinky rings, bracelets, and chain necklaces trending.

Pinterest also shared that the biggest reason couples are interested in unconventional weddings is because they want the day to reflect their personalities. That is the heart of it, isn’t it?

Pinterest Wedding Week includes more than 400 curated boards with over 50 merchants and talent, including country music star Lainey Wilson, who is planning her own wedding too. Wherever inspiration comes from, I hope every couple remembers this: the most beautiful celebrations are the ones filled with love, family, friends, and moments that feel honest. Around here, those are the memories we hold onto.
